Privacy Policy
Effective date: [ date ]. This policy applies to the English-language version of optaloc.com and to inquiries we receive through it. Company details in square brackets are to be completed before publication.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by [ legal entity name ], [ address ] (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question, write to [ email ].
2. What we collect and why
We collect only what you give us and only for the purpose you give it for:
- Contact form — name, email, and optionally your city or metro area, business type and the text of your message. Purpose: to answer your inquiry and, if you ask, to prepare a scope and a quote for a location report.
- Newsletter — your email. Purpose: to send the newsletter you subscribed to. Every message has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Engagement records — if you order a report, the brief, correspondence and invoicing details needed to deliver and account for the work.
We do not sell personal information, do not share it with data brokers, do not build advertising profiles, and do not use phone-location or app-tracking data of any kind — on the site or in our reports. Our reports are built from public and open datasets that describe places, not people.
3. Cookies and analytics
The site stores one preference in your browser: the language you chose. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics, we will use a privacy-preserving tool, say so here, and describe how to opt out.
4. How long we keep data
Inquiry data is kept for as long as needed to answer you and to document any engagement that follows, then deleted. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Engagement records are kept for the period required by accounting and tax law.
5. Who else sees your data
Only the service providers we need to run the site and to communicate with you: [ hosting provider ], [ email provider ]. They process data under written terms and only on our instructions. Data may be stored in the United States and in the European Union. We disclose personal information to authorities only where the law requires it.
6. Your rights — in every state
US privacy laws differ by state. We do not check where you live: we give every user the rights that state consumer-privacy laws grant, wherever you are.
- Know and access — ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate information.
- Delete — ask us to delete your information, unless we must keep it by law.
- Opt out — we do not sell personal information, do not share it for targeted advertising and do not profile you, so there is nothing to opt out of; if that ever changes, we will add an opt-out control here first.
- No discrimination — exercising these rights never changes the price or the quality of what we offer.
- Authorized agent — you may ask someone to act on your behalf; we will verify the request with you.
To exercise a right, write to [ email ]. We confirm your identity by replying to the email address we hold for you and answer within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days where permitted, and we will tell you if we need more time). Our answer is free of charge. If we refuse a request, we will say why, and you may ask us to reconsider by replying to that message.
7. Children
The site is for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information; if you believe a child has sent us data, write to [ email ] and we will delete it.
8. Security
We keep inquiry data in access-controlled systems and use encrypted connections to the site. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.
9. Do Not Track
We do not track users across other sites, so we treat every browser as if “Do Not Track” were on.
10. Changes
We will post changes on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information you already gave us, we will email you before it takes effect.
